Fridays in Fredericksburg Sorby Sweets

Fridays in Fredericksburg, Small Business

I’ve been struggling to develop interesting blog content for the winter months. When it’s below freezing no one really wants to take outdoor, natural light portraits. I can’t really blame them! As much as I love taking pictures I know, just like my clients, my fingers would rather stay inside and avoid frostbite.  What else do I love to photograph and talk about? Fredericksburg! This not so little town between Washington DC and Richmond has some amazing experiences to offer those who choose to #VisitFred. So here we go! Welcome to the first Fridays in Fredericksburg.

First stop. Sorby Sweets!

Meet Amanda owner of Sorby Sweets a custom cake company based in Fredericksburg, VA. She specializes in sweet, feminine cakes for weddings and special occasions! Her creations are absolutely beautiful and insanely delicious! Can you say butter cream? I love her philosophy that sweets should be enjoyed often and be as beautiful as they are delicious. She definitely nails this with her creations! After graduating from the Wilton School of Cake Decorating & Design she perfected her craft by keeping her business small and baking for friends and family. Thankfully for the rest of us, she took the leap into the world of small business owner in 2014! Amanda recently decided to offer another service. Her own cake decorating classes!  If you want to learn to decorate cakes beautifully I would highly recommend checking out one of her upcoming classes. If you need an amazing cake for a special occasion (or just because it’s Friday night) Sorby Sweets is the place! But order soon, she books fast!

Amanda!! I had the absolute best time photographing your recent cake class! Your love for what you do truly shines through as you instruct your attendees in the art of cake decorating. Your smile is so friendly and inviting. I can really tell you do what you love and you love what you do! That can be a rare thing to find in this world! It was extremely difficult to smell the sweet goodness your attendees were creating and not partake in the fun. I still can’t believe you use over 14 pounds of butter to prepare all the butter cream needed for class!!! I’m so thankful for the opportunity to meet you and learn more about your story. I’m sad that you will be leaving Fredericksburg in the Spring but I know that you will do amazing things Tennessee! Good Luck, Wishing you nothing but “sweet” blessings!
