A few years ago my husband decided he would like to purchase a motorcycle. Harley Davidson to be exact. I wasn’t sure at first but I wasn’t about to be one of those wives who mothered their husbands. Instead I decided to join him on this new adventure. We only made one agreement. If I got one of my uncomfortable gut feelings, he promised not to take the bike out for a ride!
And so the story of my Harley Davidson man began.
We have gone on a few long trips together. Cruised down windy back roads alone. Then there was the experience of riding with more than 20 other bikes to Laughlin for a bike rally. Wish I’d had my camera for that one! However, this latest adventure my husband is experiencing solo. He decided to enter the Old Dominion Harley Davidson Polar Bear Challenge! Basically it’s a competition to see which (crazy) rider can endure the most miles during January’s cold & wet weather. I can not believe the lengths my man has gone to in order to log miles this months. For those that own some of that cool gear that warms you up as you ride, or have grip warmers, I still think you are crazy! But my man has none of these cool warming gadgets. He has been wearing seven layers on top and at least four layers on bottom. Followed by two or three layers around his face and head. Finally, he sticks those warming packs in his gloves so he fingers don’t fall off from frost bite!
Even though I think he’s crazy it has been fun seeing my husbands competitive nature rise to the surface. I hope you win babe and I can’t wait to join you when the weather warms up! This old lady is a fair weather rider for sure!!
