It’s wedding season but the weather in Virginia didn’t seem to get the memo. Nearly every weekend in May the clouds gathered and opened up for their own kind of party! Flashing lightning. Pouring rain. Our rivers were swelling and pushing the edges of their banks. But what can you do when the day has arrived for your perfect Market at Grelen Wedding day and they are calling for rain? Pray! That is what I did! I received an amazing opportunity to shoot with Sam of Samantha Martin Photography at a new location she said was wonderful. I wasn’t about to miss out due to rain!!
The day started off at a decent temperature but the humidity was brutal. By the time the bride’s makeup was perfectly applied mine had melted off. But no one was there to see me! Sam wasn’t exaggerating about the beauty of this place. I could have spent hours photographing the succulent garden or walking the trails or enjoying a perfect farm-to-table lunch on a cool afternoon. I would definitely have to return for a personal day! But today was about a beautiful bride and a handsome groom saying I Do and beginning a new life as husband and wife.
The details were perfect, the bride was stunning and scene was absolutely gorgeous. Views across the 600 acre venue were breathtaking. It was a picture perfect wedding day. This bridal party was absolutely wonderful as well. The excitement and laugher they shared was contagious. You couldn’t help but smile as you watched them all enjoy this wonderful day. The rain did threaten to do it worst but in the end those clouds simply provided a nice piece of shade long enough to allow for some beautiful portraits. The day ended with love in the air and a beautiful sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
